Sing with the River City Chorale
2023-2024
audition for our Chorale
Founded in 1976, the River City Chorale’s mission is to inspire and enrich our community through high-quality and diverse choral performances. This auditioned ensemble performs three distinctively different sets of concerts each season, with repertoire that includes classical, folk, multicultural, pop, jazz, and musical theatre. In addition, the Chorale tours internationally and has produced numerous recordings.
The purpose of the audition is to ensure appropriate placement and proficiency for all members in order to create a quality experience for all participants.
The audition will take approximately 10 minutes and consists of two parts (a prepared excerpt and a vocal assessment).
Part 1 - Prepared Excerpt
The first part of the audition consists of learning an excerpt from a piece of music.
This year, the audition excerpt is from the “Gloria Patri” (measures 1-23) of Antonio Vivaldi’s Magnificat.
For the audition, auditionees will perform their voice part with keyboard accompaniment.
Measures 1-12 will be performed from memory, and for measures 13-23 sheet music may be utilized.
